BookSends CPC

What is it?

At BookSends, we’ve been grappling with two very simple truths. We get more great book submissions than we can possibly fit into our daily newsletter, and email is far from the only way out there that readers find out about new books. That spurred us to create BookSends CPC, a new mobile advertising platform that allows authors and publishers to reach hundreds of thousands of readers on their mobile devices while they’re using our line of popular Kindle Fire apps. We’re focusing on delivering a consistently reliable performance for authors, who get charged nothing per impression and only $0.25 per click, far less than what you’d pay to drive traffic via Google or Facebook, for instance. In short, BookSends CPC is a way to drive reader traffic to your book that only charges you when someone sees your book ad and takes action.

How does it work?

The BookSends CPC ad feed displays ads with randomized frequency across our network to users, who have a similar demographic as our BookSends email—a majority adult women age 35-55. Ads start with a funding amount depending on what was ordered, and the ad runs until those funds are fully depleted. The ad images appear in a variety of places across our network, garnering actions from those who find it to be the most interesting. And you’re naturally targeting readers on their Kindle Fire devices, with zero chance of running into bots or junk traffic from click farms. When someone taps on an ad, they are taken straight to your book’s product page where they can find out more and purchase.

What happens when I place my order?

When an order is received, a start date is agreed upon, and a payment is processed, your book is set on the calendar to begin appearing on our network for that day. Before the start date comes, our graphic designers will make a banner image for your book that will appear for readers to see. You do not have to make or supply an image for BookSends CPC unless you want to. On the start date, your ad is uploaded to our network, where it begins to appear for readers to see. Essentially, we’re making our CPC system just as easy as the BookSends newsletter; once your ad is booked there’s nothing more you have to do.

Are there different requirements between CPC and the newsletter?

While space is extremely limited in our newsletter and we can only feature a small portion of the great books we receive, our CPC system has much more flexibility and availability. That means that most books that meet our minimum submission requirements will be accepted and be able to run, even if scheduled only a few days in advance. Even if we’re not able to feature a book in the email newsletter, we may still be able to offer crucial visibility on our mobile network.

How will the impact of BookSends CPC differ from that of the BookSends newsletter?

Unlike the newsletter, which delivers the majority of its punch on the very first day and trails off, BookSends CPC will offer more of a consistent boost to traffic over a longer period. This can be beneficial during a book’s new release window or later to prove to Amazon that your book can draw traffic and generate sales in order to get benefits from the algorithms. The ultimate length of time it takes to incur clicks and deplete funds will vary from book to book, but there’s no chance of not getting your money’s worth or paying more because of performance.
